Sorry, didn't see the second page on this thread when I posted. We had the same idea though. It is possible, but highly inefficient! haha

I am always surprised at the number of folks who, when seeing the Baron for the first time, ask the question, "Is that a three or four cylinder engine?". I guess Chevy did a better job of marketing the Sprint/Metro than Ford did with the Festy...

Ususally anything after the 9th month is classified as the next year model so if it was made in 86 it would be an 87. I can see the 87 being classed as a 88 since thats the year they rolled them out as a ford product

Lol you're not the only one, some people when I said proudly "No, it's got a 4 cylinder" they just sorta looked at me skeptically. Same thing happened when I told people that my engine was peppy and fun. Some of those people I let drive her (the ones that knew how to drive a stick) and most agreed afterward.

^^ Ha ha, never noticed that.

Thing is, despite the fact that the guy is a dolt about his own car, it actually doesn't sound like too bad a deal. I'd have to go check it out in person to be sure. But figuring it's either an 88 or 89 (judging by the grill, the 4 speed, and the fact that it doesn't look like it has auto seatbelts) 127k miles is just getting broken in. Sounds like it's driven regularly. Yeah, needs some body work, but all in all, doesn't look like a bad deal for $500. Would be nice if he knew what he was talking about, tho.

Don't think counting plug wires would help this guy. Then he would have a 5 cylinder car.

It probably belongs to some geriatric dude that is so senile he doesn't know what year it is currently, or what year the car was made, he doesn't know his left from right, and also can't count higher than 3. At least he has good taste in cars!!
