  • bobbyspider's festiva project

hey just wanted to give an update to yall (also let you know im still here). I been busy with the festiva, I had a few problems I had to iron out (wheel bearings, passenger side wheel spendle and some other misc things) but im back on the road I lowered my car about 2.5 in using kyb shocks and some camber bolts I used the spring cut method but welded the top flat part of the spring on to keep with the original engineering. Looks good and rides better than any car I have dropped (still needs aligned badly). so Im back on the mission of tuning this sucker. I have a safc2 to put in it next and I just bought a yokahama roof rack in baltimore today for 25$ made for a festiva (amazing price). I want a euro look when Im done. I have my paint kit and going to start prep this week, and eurotiva helped me out with some turbo q's an I have a great turbo for my app (later). I have some body enhancements like a front lip side skirts and rear skirt ready to install (thanks to festivaWES for the help there). so anyway its looking good as long as there are no more snags such as finding one of the most rare parts in ford history " the coveted passenger wheel spindle", I should be looking good and hopefully driving snappy by the fall time. thanks for all your help especially the people I gave a shout out to in this thread.

    -thanks
    -Ill get pics up soon

Wonder if the Driver side spindle will work?

After going to a number of junk yards and checking spindles on some other cars. The spindles are not always reversed threads on passenger side. So why are the Festivas?

here are some pics I took of the whip today. its dirty but it shows the progress. sorry about the quality I had to photoshop each one just so you could see the car because my camera is a peice of junk.

-Im removing the molding on the sides (its kinda pointless anyway other cars doors are way too high for them to do their job now) I think it will make it more sreamline looking

-if anyone has a rear bumper cover let m know because mines in need of replacement before paint

How many coils did you cut from your springs?

I cut 2 full coils then welded just the flat of the spring back on to keep the oem seating I got that info from festivaWES on what to do. It rides better than any car Ive ever dropped, for real.

You mentioned removing the door bumper strip... Would you have to spot weld the door to get rid of the holes, or is it glued on?

It's just glued on but the glue is a pita to get off
