  • 99 Ranger Hesitated today...

    I was sitting at a stop light today.I went to take off and it would barely move.Then I tried to floor it and it would barely move.Never happened before.Now,it does have a growling a lot at steady speeds.?????Any ideas.?

      4 cyl,2wd,auto.standard cab.Never a problem.Just put 1000 into it at Goodyear(ball joints,tie rods,control arms.Oil change recently,tranny service(with Lucas).

        Was it reving high and barely moving? Almost sounds like maybe the tranny is slipping.

              a dirty fuel filter wouldn't all of a sudden cause problems, it is a progressive problem. Is the check engine light on? if so go to advanced auto and have them scan it. let us know what the code is. that would be a start.

                the 2wd trucks have a 7.5" axle, and they have been known to have ring and pinion issues, with symptoms very similar to what you describe. Did it act like both the brakes and accelerator were applied (struggling against itself?)?
