capri seat swap

im doin the seat swap but i can seem to get the stupid seats apart. has anyone used capri seats in there car ?

I have seen them in Festivas several times. Use the seat swap in Dj's articles here http://www.fordfestiva.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3854 it is for the 323 seats but should work fine on the Capri seats.

i printed that out but i cant seem to get the stupid wheel off the side. i cant get the clip off. i dont think i need it so i was just gunna hit it with a sledgehammer.

I had the same dilemma, trust me you can get it. Use needle nose pliers and work at pulling one of the tabs up, once you get one up its cake. You might even want to try grinding the pliers down (if they are the cheapo ones) to a sharper point if they are too big to get one side in the gap.

well i got the off , now i cant get the rails off the bottom , grrrrrrrrrr

cut around the metal posts and just slit it as discreetly as possible to get the material off. You wont really see it when the seats are put back together.
Again I had the same problem its like the bolts are under the rails in an impossible position to get a tool on them.
I wish you were closer I would definitely lend you a hand.

p.s. there is going to be 2 holes visable in the side of each seat bottom when you are done. like this. I was thinking about putting a Ford Racing patch over the holes

Easiest swap is Aspire; I also did Escort GT, which give more side support to keep you in the seat during hard cornering. Slightly more difficult but well worth it. The Escort GT seats do not give me sufficient thigh support; I will make a bracket to raise the front of the seat rail mounting points, to fix this.

well i have one almost done , its deffinitly not very easy and the festiva frame doesnt just sit inside the capri cushin, oh well ill figurwe it out.

well i got the passenger seat almost done and noticed the back was a little twisted. i didnt relize u had to use a new bolt when putting the festiva bracket on the carpi back cuz the wholes dont line up and i think thats it. i dont know why it always takes me 10 times longer to do something than most other people.

just make sure you pull the material really tight when you zip tie it down & the seat cushion will be fine. It took me about 5 straight hours to complete both seats. Between the hog rings, side knob & the top hole on the festiva hing not lining up with the threaded hole in the capri seat back (had to use a nut & bolt) it is a little tedious.

well its taken me about 3 hours to do the passenger seat , but now i know how to do it the other one shouldnt be too hard , i hope. i installed the seat in the car and it functions as it should. its not the prettiest but the seats are deffinitly better than the stock ones. thanks for all your help man.

yeah the seat backs both are "twisted" inward on the car. I don't know why thought mine was just a fluke but apparently not if yours are the same way.

Either way they are way better seats than the festiva ones for comfort and support.
