I just thought this funny I found a guy on CL with 2 festivas he was parting out I emailed him asking if he would sell them whole for parts he emailed me back and said no and that they were worth more as parts. I said no problem and got some info on them to see if they had anything I needed. I told him I was looking for a mirror and a set of wheels and tires and a driver seat he then emailed me back and said he could get more for the stuff on ebay. He never even said what he wanted for it I might have been willing to pay any price. Just found that a bit funny I guess he thinks if they sit and rust away they will be worth more. In the words of my grandfather its not worth nothing till you sell it just found that funny

So, he puts parts cars on CL, and then won't sell the parts from them to you? Odd. Wonder if he's just trying to figure out what people will pay, so he can figure out where to set his reserve on ebay? You are right, Scout, people are strange.

I guess he is in love with them and cant decide what to do with them. I used to know an older gentlemen years ago that had a nice 79 Scout and every year at the anual meet he would put it up for sale for like $30K i never understood why he thought it would ever be worth that much. He is gone now and years later his daughter brought the Scout for me to look at and she would talk about how much he loved this Scout. So I asked her if he loved it so much why did he always try to sell if she told me that her mother hated it so he agreed that he would try to sell it at the show little to her knowledge he priced it about 4 times what is was worth. So he could honestly go home and say sorry dear I put it up for sale and no one even showed interest. Smart thinking on his part maybe this guy has the same problem

Could be, maybe the other half wants 'em gone, and he doesn't, so he's going through the motions, and that's about it. That's funny about the old guy and the Scout, tho.

You should tell everyone the listings so no one from here buys the stuff. Then he will feel like a real idiot when no one buys his items. Maybe he will even call you back and want to sell. I think we should do this stuff to items on ebay more often. Take the JDM fog light switch that is on there all the time. If someone emailed the guy claiming to want to buy the whole lot and found out how many he had and it was a lot, we could have just one person at a time bid on the item so everyone would get the thing for like $15-$20 instead of everyone driving the price up to $70 for the thing and making the guy rich in the process. It would come down to trusting your fellow fordfestiva.com members to follow through on it though. It wouldn't work if some jerk decided to throw another bid in at the last second.

Maybe he got crossed up between your email and someone elses. That's why you got, "I could get more on ebay for them"
