  • Added value of Apsire Swap?

So... any feelings of what value a complete aspire brake swap adds to a festiva, possibly including 14" alloy wheels/tires? With all new brakes/bearings?

I know what it costs to do.... and not having to swap it out is possibly worth something to me, but I plan on doing it to the new festiva too...

so the decision needs to be made as to weather I sell the old one with the aspire swap and wheels/tires, or swap between the two or possibly get some JY aspire/honda steel wheels/tires and keep the alloys for the new one...

I've sold a couple aspire swaps for a few hundred each so i'd say at least a few hundred

    1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
    1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

It adds nothing to the value of the car.

Any normal person sees the Aspire swap as "brakes"... And that's it. Does it stop? Sure... Does that make them better than the stock Festiva brakes to Joe Schmoe? Nope....

Well its going to be listed here..... Im thinking with the "upgrade" as an option, if no interest at the price I come up with then possibly swap the parts out and relist and go broader with the advertising as well.

Here to the boards I believe it is worth more....at least 225 more plus the wheels/tires 100-125

you talking about your old one as it is now or the new one (mine) with the upgrade?

Id say the swap definately adds value to the car. Many more wheel/tire combos. Rear sway bar, much bigger brakes, cheaper tires, which alone would pay for the swap. People dont do the swap just for exercise. Its an upgrade for sure ! If you go auto aspire front brakes you get vented rotors (FWIW) too. Not to mention the aspire rotors arent pressed on. Just two screws to remove. I think its a plus.

Is it just the auto aspire rotors that are vented and not the manual?? I have vented rotors with my swap but I thought I got it from a manual aspire? Figuring this out will help for when I need to get new brake pads

Maybe both are vented ? I know the auto rotors are thicker and have a different caliper.

Maybe. I'll have to double check and see what I have exactly. A search gave me this info originally posted by Rich Norman...

                    From MVMA Spec Sheet:

                    Outer working diameter : 9.25" ( 235mm )

                    Inner working diameter : 5.55" ( 141mm )

                    Thickness ( new ) :
                    MTX- 0.71" ( 18mm )
                    ATX- 0.86" ( 22mm )

                    Material : Cast Iron

                    Type: Vented

And I read in another thread somewhere that the numbers 18(for MTX) or 22(for ATX) will also be cast on the top of the caliper as well.

Yes, the autos have a 22 and the manuals an 18..... I have the auto on ours.

Old one as it is now..... I know the value (to me) of "yours" would be very high on the new one if I end up swapping everything over. It already is worth more to me than what I paid for it.

Im going to list the old one with the brakes/swaybar installed and see if it sells.... if not, then I'll start swapping most of the stuff.

Just saw an Aspire (auto trans) at a J/Y... confirming Freshtiva's & Lanemeyer's posts. Thicker rotors (they are indeed vented) and a big-ole caliper.

To me, the Aspire swap alone without nice tires/wheels would be worth about $100 added on.
