  • Festiva rated one of the Nine "Great Bare Necessity-Mobiles"

Yesterday, GM announced a return to basics. That's good because sometimes, mobility alone is all we can afford. Few bare-bones cars had something making them more than basic transportation. Some, starting with the Model T, did. Here's our favorites.

    Article here.
    Current cars:

1993 Ford Festiva 5-Speed - Festiclese III - Cousin of the Banhammer - "The Jalopnik Car"
    1984 Toyota Cressida - 2JZGE Swap, Turbocharged.
2013 Mazda Mazda2 - Exhaust and Wheels (the daily)
    2002 Toyota Tundra - V6/Auto/2WD - The Tow Vehicle.

At least they put the Stiva ahead of the Neon. Geez, think I've driven all of those, except the Model T. Sat in one, but never drove it.

Dumb thieves go to prison, smart ones go to work for the Government.

    1988 L - 232K miles Batstiva
    1989 L - 247K miles Slick
    1990 L - 281K miles Orphan Annie
    Let the hoarding begin!!

I dont think they were rated in the order listed. If you read through the comments there is a decent number of good things to be said about Festivas.

Nice! Although neons don't have a good rep, I'd think that'd bar 'em from this list. Good find though!
