  • I've got a dilemma, not sure what to do

I've been seriously thinking of keeping my Festiva and doing a B8 swap, but I recently bought a really cool Crown Vic Police Interceptor that I love. I love the Crown Vic, but the Festiva is so cool and unique and with a B8, would be super unique. I really want to go to Festiva Madness too, so I'm torn. The Festiva would save me so much money on fuel but the Crown Vic is so nice and big and has super cold AC.

What would you do in this situation?

To each their own, do whatever you want. A b8 festiva isn't that unique...I've built one before!

      This is a no brainer!
      Keep both.
Otherwise, you wont have a car to use when you do the B8 swap and you don't get it running right away.
The other thing is you can live in the crown vic, when gas reaches $4 again!

Well thats the thing, I need to sell the Crown Vic to free up some money for the swap. My wife has an Infiniti so I won't be without a car while the B8 swap is being done. Does anybody know if we can rent a cherry picker and engine stand from Vatozone? If so, how much would they charge?

Rather than spend bux on rental stuff, why not request to hold a work party? Have Festy guys come over and help you with the swap. See scout800's thread under "North East US". Not that hard to pull a little engine like these with three or four people's hands on it. A piece of chain attached to the motor lift hooks, and a metal bar will easily get it out or in. For an engine stand, you can build one out of 2x6's and brackets, and then have it forever.

Someone might even have the stuff you want to rent and just bring them, or loan them to you.

^ +1. Lots of Stiva guys in NC. You'd be surprised what kind of work you can get done for a case of beer.

B8s can be had for cheap, So why sell the other car? Just save some pennies and find the motor you want.

I was thinking the same thing...just wait until a little $$ comes along...I'm thinking you don't have so much of a money prob after all. Buy a cheap motor and get free help from experienced enthusiasts; no downside.

Thanks for all the great ideas, I never even considered keeping the Vic and Festiva. Its always good to have a back up car anyways. I am gonna keep her, thanks for the great suggestions. Now, to find a B8 in my area, some nice ones on Ebay for $250 plus $150 shipping.
