festy cargo light

i just recently got a festy cargo light from festyxfi and my ques is....do the cars come with the switch on the hatch lock and the wiring even if they didnt have a light installed originally ?...I was checking out a 91 shop manual, and it says switch is on hatch lock....unfortunately my car is now in another state and i dont have it avail to me until end of month, when i go back and visit it ( LOL ) and maybe get to do some work to it..so i cant examine it firsthand...any help is appreciated...thanks.

only lx's have the proper switch. And it is part of the latch. Freshtiva has pics of one.

hmmm, mine is a GL.....possibly it may be there or not....but the light isnt and now im thinking there may not be wiring either

I'm pretty sure the wiring/plug is in all Festivas, but only the LX's had the cargo light and and trunk latch with switch installed.

Or you could do something like this.

there are plugs available for the light behind the little door. There is a wire that can plug into the latch if you had it, behind the hatch cover skin. Freshtiva has a write up on making it work manually with a ground wire.

hmmm, thanks guys....im gonna see if i can get a latch with the switch on it...sounds kinda strange that the GL s wouldnt have that thou...am i wrong in thinking that the GL was the top of the line or was the LX the top model ? ...or was the cargo light only offered on certain years ?

88-90....LX was top , 91-93 GL was top...light and latch were only available from 88-90, but you can get lights out of the excort wagons,
