How did an Aspire make it?

As for the nice high performance stuff, they were obviously owned by people who don't care about cars, just the image they project.

No way Aspires should have been legal for C4C!

Or maybe they were too trashed to bother repairing, and they couldn't get diddly for them as is....sometimes you just gotta make the financial decision.

I suppose, but for me, something in that condition becomes parts.

But then, I'm not the typical car owner.

I just wonder what the Cash for Clunkers program really accomplished? Sounds like another government "let's just hurry up and do something" action that as usual was not thought out or planned very well. Sorry, guess I'm just a disgruntled middle-class American.......

The car manufacturers made money this year, but what about next? C4C in 2010 too?

Some of those cars were only a couple years old! What The ? I think some people abused this program. Not to mention some of the rare vehicles i.e. GMC Typhoon. Hell I am sure someone would have bought some those rare cars and restored them. Its sad, but what can you. I guess they are helping boost the value of these rare vehicles. As far the ford aspires, I thought they wouldent meet the criterea of the program?

I saw on the news a few weeks ago that there is a C4C program for refrigerators too, since old ones are less eco-friendly. Not sure if it was just in CA or nationwide. But it's that kind of spending that makes it no surprise the CA govt is bankrupt.

But I think we should get used to depending on the govt to provide lots of these programs for us. One legislator proposed, tongue in cheek, that we have Cash for Cluckers to help out the chicken industry. Why stop there? Why not a program to turn in our one-year-old 52" LCD tvs to stimulate buying new ones? Anyone need a new blender? There you go! Create a program for it. It is just funded by our tax dollars, so no biggie.

Looked at the list, I wonder why i didn't see any H2's. Boss has one, and the thing gets 11mpg. Maybe its too new? but still I see some cars that people must still owe money on.

Keep in mind this is the list of cars submitted for C4C, not necessarily what was accepted.

If you were a dealer and a stupid customer came in offering a typhoon for C4C, you'd give the customer $3000-4500 off their new car, submit the application to C4C, get denied, then sell the typhoon for $6000.

^^ why would they even submit an app if they wanted to keep it and resell it. As long as the person got their 4500....what would they care.
