Belated "safe trip", Mark. Wish you could've had a way to swing thru Raleigh NC.

On the other hand, Pittsburgh isn't that far from NC! I'd be up for driving to a mini-meet up in your area some day!

Focustiva: Because I was told it was was impossible to fit a Focus bumper on a Festiva.

      HI EVERYONE!
Yes, I am alive and well. Thanks for your thoughts and well-wishes. I would have posted last night, but the hotel in Flagstaff did not have internet, even though they said they did.
Trip is going well so far. The drive from CA to Flagstaff is quite long, and ended up having to travel along the hilly regions of Rt.40, at night, along with the big rigs. Not fun. The hotel in Flagstaff was an old 50's hotel, slightly remodeled. Very old fixtures in the rooms, etc. But the bed was fairly new and very clean (I checked), and had a good sleep, and that's what counts.

Todays stretch to Grants, NM was much nicer, and arrived here at motel early enough to relax and go online. Had enough time to see many old RT.66 sites; If I can, I will post some cool pics later tonight, but it may have to wait until my next stop....have to find the cable to connect my camera to the computer.

Now for the important stuff. The DeathEgg is running great! I'm pretty loaded up with my belongings, so I can tell that it's straining a bit to get up to speed on the on-ramps, but on my first fill-up I got almost 45mpg, going no faster than 70 mph. Engine is purring like a 1.3l kitten!

That's it for now...Will post again later on.
If it has boobs or wheels, sooner or later you're going to have trouble with it.

Looking at yahoo maps, it looks like you're about a third of the way to your destination.

I'm guessing you'll be almost to Missouri by Monday night, and be going through Ohio on Thursday.

But we'll see! I'll give DaveG a shout and see about things.

          Just a quick update:

Car still running well. Having a very nice trip so far. I forgot what a good highway car the Festiva is!
Spend the night last night at a cool old hotel in Tucumcari. Tonight I'm in Weatherford OK, and had to drive in some heavy rain. I'm really glad I got new tires! Saw some cool sites, such as Cadillac ranch today.

So, all is well, and I'm tired.
*** I am starting a new photo thread for the pics, so check that out too.

Guess I'll see you on Wed as planned; less than 600 miles from Weatherford to STL. Got plenty of parts on hand should you find you need something to keep 'er running for the last leg of the trip.

                  Tom-PM sent.
Almost home now. In Effingham ill for the night. Car is still running well, but am hearing a faint noise from the front end. Sounds like a cv joint, but not sure.

Unfortunately had to pass on meeting TominMo and Pu241, just not enough time. Will be driving about 9 hours tomorrow on the last leg to Pittsburgh, then I'm HOME! Still getting about 42 mpg average.

                      I made it!
I am now in the Pittsburgh area. No internet access yet, so I go to the local bookstore.
Thanks to all for the good wishes for the trip, and so sorry I did not get to meet some of you on the way.

Car is fine, mpg still good, no problems on the trip. I am so glad I have this car!!
When I have time, I am looking forward to meeting some of you who live in PA/Ohio/etc.

Not yet; I'm thinking that it's a cv joint slowly going...but it's gonna have to wait, I have other expenses more pressing at the moment. I am hoping to use my sister-in-laws car next month for about a week while I do some work on the DeathEgg. It may not pass PA inspection without some major work.

Yes, I am looking forward to some Festiva meets next year!
