I wouldn't expect that canvas would be expensive. An automotive upholstery shop should be able to make an exact copy. It doesn't look incredibly detailed, and maybe you could even double up on the canvas around the rails.

My edges are shrunk in like that too. I thought it was because the canvas was shrunk.. maybe I should be looking at those cables. I can take a video of it opening.. but it wont really even open on its own unless you help it fold properly.

Did you ever look into getting new canvas made?

I looked and couldnt find any of my rails out - it appears that yours has just split the canvas like mine is starting to do here.

If you notice the edges seem to suck in a little I think this is because of the cable that runs around the outside being rotten.

I took a picture of the top starting its second fold so you can compare it to yours

Here are where to lubricate - the red arrows show where you should apply heavy lube under the rail and in the narrow rail - the face of the rail should be lightly lubbricated (blue arrow)

    Hope this all helps.

Overseas option - although there are a few of them in North America

    Stefan -
I'll look at my side rails to see if my canvas is attached - I know mine has some issues closing all the way - i usually help it - lubrication on the rails really helps - I'll take a picture of where you need to lubricate. I know mine has the side cables that keep tension on the outside of the canvas rotten in some spots so I wonder if that has any contribution to it not closing all the way. Now that I have my leak lines installed mine doesnt leak unless I get a driving rain from the side and then I get a couple of drops in from where the center doesnt close all the way. I'll snap some pictures today and try to get them posted. - if you could take a video of yours in opperation you can compare it to mine
Heres mine all the way open - it opened hard with out the lube - once I got it lubed and ran afew times it opened right up. - I dont see any of my rails out of the canvas in this picture but I'll look for any of mine that are out.

Mine closes all the way (at least I think its all the way) but theres still a 1/8" gap when its closed

I'll snap those others - these are just the ones that I had in my photobucket

Even with how messed up mine is it doesn't leak a drop. We drove thru some of the craziest rain I've ever seen in Vancouver and it held up great.

So heres a couple quick pics.

Some places the canvas isnt attached to the rails like I think it should be...

And I don't think it closes as far as it should

I have one (Simon's old car) leaks when it rains, but it doesn't have any drain holes. I like it, but it needs new canvas eventually as there is a minor tear in it. I may have to break down and buy a new one from the website mentione higher up in the thread. Maybe a electric one would be sweet.

Well it has a few problems... For one it dosent quite close all the way, also a few of the rails aren't attached to the canvas. When you open it it kinda dosent fold right and it jams if you dont help it fold right. I'll get some pics, its just its been raining the last few days.
