  • [Feeler] DJ Style Grills

I'm thinking about making the DJ grills and selling them on the forum - below is the one off my car (forgive the dirt I have'nt had time to clean the bugs off it since I pulled it off). I have a sorce to get reproduction 88-89 grills - I'm initially thinking about selling these for 40 since I have to purchase two grills to make one. I would like to know if there is an interest in them before I buy the supplies.

I may later sell the open style grill with the center bar similar to the below however without the emblem - currently there is too much involved in making the center to make any profit off them.

I'm also thinking about making the ever so popular open grill however I'm not sure about these yet.
Let me know if theres interest - if there is enough then I will buy the supplies and start making these.

Well I'm cheap I like mine plain. like no wire in the back and the emblem. Well you said 40 is that shipped? I would give 35 for it shipped without the emblem and wire behind it.

You can get them from ebay for $20. They may be cheaper elsewhere. $20 bucks for labor and mesh is very inexpensive. I think $40 is a good price for either style. Why try to lower the price? His labor is worth the money. I'm definitely interested in one for $40. Let me know when you are going to start making them and which style. Thanks

I don't think the emblem was included in the price and the mesh is cheap. I do think that the labor is at least worth $20 and that $40 is a fair price.

I want the mesh, and I have my own emblem. $40's fine with me.

in order to make a "DJ style" grille, you need to cut up 2 88-89 style grilles, so $40 is covering the cost of materials

                    1988 323 GT - B6T Powered

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

I'm also figuring the cost of resin, hardener, glass, bondo, sandpaper, paint, dremel wheels, and my labor; I can buy a roll of mesh for 5 bucks so thats not an issue, but the epoxy to glue it to the grill is up there but I can use one tube on multiple grills thats why I figured the extra 20.

I would not sell the center bar for 40 it would be more like 70 - it is very labor intensive to make the center bar and get the angles correct to the grill - I then glue it to the gill and reinforce it with a couple layers of glass. I also need to use alot more bondo on that grill due to the fact that I'm glassing the center bar in

all will come in black you will need to paint it to match your car

The grills come molded in black and I have a paint that matches so any work I do will be in black - it would cost far too much to purchase all the different paint codes
