He states after the wheels were installed, that the car had reached its potential!!!! C'mon!!!!! I give him credit for being in the mag, but the cover???? Do you think it was a bit of a joke? They were making fun of him a bit. Just my opinion.

Kind of disheartening, sort of, that no matter what we do to these cars, they're still considered whimpy little girl cars, and for Super Street to 1, put ANY car with such hideous rims on it ON THE COVER is in bad taste, and 2, mock the vehicle with an owner that again speaks poorly of his ride, makes me want to take out a $20K loan and build a Festiva that would easily outrun the second car on that cover! Or, for those of you that have seen the anvil shooting post, I have a better idea... I need some teddy bear rims...

im happy to speak up since im the owner of the car.

RIMS: everyone can think what they want about the wheels. i like to make people laugh and if they laugh at my wheels thats fine by me. are they silly and ridiculous? yes. and thats why i like them. even if i ever sold the festy im keeping the wheels for whatever car they may fit on down the line. i like them and honestly, thats all that matters.

WHAT I WROTE: i was joking around w/ posing in front of the car and the blurb i wrote about the car. i dont take things too seriously and if people think my car is a slow POS fine by me. id rather have a sleeper w/ a B6T than something that looks fast but goes slow. again, just my opinion and i was having a little fun w/ the blurb because no matter what we do or write people will still laugh at most (if not all) of our cars. im ok w/ that and hope that everyone who read that laughed and got a kick out of it. at the end of the day i bought my festy for me...no one else.

HISTORY: im friends w/ the editor. i was telling him about the ronal teddys on my festy and he told me to send him a pic and he would put it in the running for the readers ride section. so i sent in the pic and wrote up a funny blurb. ive had many cars in the past and never once cared about sending in a pic of my ride. lets face it, my car is only in there b/c of the ronals and me joking around w/ a "bad ass gangster" style pose...without either of those additions it probably wouldnt have made the cut. lastly, i had NO idea it was going on the cover. next thing i know i get tagged in a photo on facebook and my friends are asking me why im on the cover of SS? a few people apparently thought it would be a good way to show support to their readers and so decided to finally do a big readers ride blow out/section and spotlight an unlikely car on the cover.

overall, i think its great and am happy about it. id be just as happy if it was one of you guys in the mag! i think now is the perfect time to start sending in pics of your rides. who nows, maybe they will do a whole festiva section or something.

and on the flip side i think its great if people laugh at our cars...the last thing i want is to see the festiva become the next trend or bandwagon that everyone wants to hop on. sure, its nice for a while but eventually just gets played out and all of the good cars get purchased, become overpriced or get junked. i like the fact that these cars arent something everyone wants. i never bought a 240 or AE86 for that exact reason. instead i bought a festiva...and im damn proud of that.

Now thats why I drive and mod Festivas. I like having a somewhat rare, silly and obscure car and also don't give a dang about what the rest of the trend/image following society thinks.

Micah, please accept my apology (I seem to be doing that a lot lately?). I get hardcore into something when I hear about the possibilites, and I've forgotten that sometimes people like to voice their individuality in such a way. I misunderstood the situation.

i appreciate you wanting to apologize but dont even worry about it! my feelings arent hurt and no one needs to apologize to me. everyone has their own opinions and are free to voice them. i just dont want people upset or mad at me b/c they misunderstood what i wrote in the blurb. the last thing i want to do is belittle the festy community or its owners. i do see how some people could come to this conclusion or be upset b/c the blurb could be misinterpreted by reader....but at the end of the day i just wanted people to laugh (at me =). anything serious i would have said would have been laughed at anyway so i figured id have some fun w/ it!

Hey I think its cool that your car got in and that you have a very laid back personality and have fun with the car. The only thing I don't like it watching people destroy perfectly good cars of any make or model. Other than that I think anything they do to individualize them is pretty cool.

That's cool. My sister wants a pair of those Michelin Man rims 'cause she works for Michelin IT Dept. She wants a Golf with Michelin Man rims to combat the $$$$$$$$$$ BMW, Porsche, Mercedes, moola moola moola. Talk about stand-out eh?
