Junkyarding in Winston-Salem today

We are going to hit a couple of junkyards around Winston-Salem today.
Pull-a-part and 109 u-pull-it.
Anyone around Winston want to meet up?
Will be there around 10, but don't know which one to check out first....decisions...decisions.

BP engines in the Pull-A-Part

Man....Deam, you guys get to have all the fun ......good thing "black friday" doesn't screw up the lines at the jy. ....... I'm at work 12 hrs.

No lines at the junk yard.

The Pull-A-Part had two GT Escorts left and they still had their engines.

One is a 5 speed and the other automatic.

BP engine is just under 150.00 each without a warranty.

May go back and pull one of them next weekend.


Got the ECU out the Escort GT.

There were three Proteges.

One had the five speed.

It is a 91.

Got the ECU out of it.

There is a 92 Capri non turbo and the automatic trans was gone.

There is what appears to be a complete Mazda 323 there.

The other Proteges were automatic and missing the head.

Junk Yard BP pictures

The location of the ECU is behind this panel in a 1993 Ford Escort GT.



The ECU.
Just pull the two side panels out by hand.
Three bolts hold it in along with one nut. A 10mm socket 1/4 drive socket works great and a ratchet type gear wrench.
Five minutes top time needed to remove.



BP engine waiting for someone to just come remove it.
I may if no one else does in a week or so.





Several of the cars still have the front GT seats.

I like the BP's out of the Escorts better, they have a "Ford" valve cover on them!

Yeah, may be, but it borders on "false advertising" since it IS a Mazda motor! LOL!
Then again, is it still truly a "Festiva" once you swap in another engine/body parts?

And by the way, I do have a BP motor (with Mazda cam cover!) in one of my Festies and a Focus front bumper on another!

Well, first we gotta install a couple BP's that we have in the garage taking up space before replenishing our stock.

Escort Gt with 1.8 engine, someone save it.

It's not that I need another BP.

I just hate to see the car crushed with the engine still in it.

The engine could be bad.

For extra money they will give a warranty.

So if no one post they have pulled the engine then I will try get there and pull it.

At some point these cars will not be in junk yards anymore.

Don't need for myself any Festiva spare parts.

Already have spare parts for projects in the works.

So if there is anyone on here that can get over to the Pull-A-Part please do so.

I would love to have that engine in my 91 auto. But dont have the nohow or tools to do the swap. Im 10 min. from u pull it. What kind of gas milage will you get with that engine? Would someone help make this happen for me? $$$

Gas mileage will suffer with the BP engine swap, primarily for 2 reasons:

a) larger displacement (BP=1.8 litre - I like the Brit spelling) req's more fuel
b) driver can't keep his accelerator foot off the floor b/c he loves to see/smell/breathe tire smoke
