There is actually a lowered Yugo with a Fiat 1.5 liter engine by me. I asked why and he said "that he couldn't find a clean Festiva to put a B6T in", I had to laugh. The picture that Shadyracing posted is a factory Yugo GVX that came with ground effects and alloy wheels, it also had a 1.3 liter engine verses a 1.1 liter in a regular Yugo. I know its kinda sick that I know these facts.

I went to see some brand new Yugos when they were being sold in the U.S. I remember the bumpers were made out of polycarbonate. I guess that's better than model kit styrene!

Isn't the Yugo based on the Fiat 128? Or is it the older 124 sedan?

I think its the 124. One of the Balto area Ford dealers was also a Yugo dealer back in the day. I remember seeing a rather unusual looking Yugo in their service lane one day, looked alot like the pic here, only white. I asked one of my friends, who worked in the Ford shop, if he knew anything about it. Supposedly, It belonged to the daughter of the east coast importer for Yugo. It was also supposedly turbocharged....

I guess that would explain the GV/T badging....

i read an article a while back in car and driver or some such magazine that the yugo brand was going to be revived and imported once again. the fully loaded convertible topped out at $8,000...wish i could find that article again. Looks like it never flew though, i read that article a couple of years back now.
