To work on old cars.. I found out that the hard way. Old plastic and hoses just isn't nimble enough. Broke the pcv valve hose and ripped the pcv valve in half all together (never did that one before).. to get the valve out had to break the grommet so had to get a new one of those too. On top of that busted the intake (actually I think the previous owner(s) did that one) as I barely pulled on the big vacuum hose that goes to the drivers side and it came apart.. shouldn't of been that easy. Good thing for parts car if my dad can find the other intake that is. Got the valve cover gasket replaced though. Funny how they replaced the timing belt but not the valve cover gasket or spark plugs wires which I'm sure are factory original's.

It was -10F here yesterday, so I changed the spark plugs in one of my trucks. I have noticed that fingers start to move slowly when they get cold. Makes it kind of tough to do much. I couldn't wear gloves because they kept getting in the way, and they would have been soaked in oil. Who puts valve covers on without tightening them down?Last edited by nonamekid; 12-10-2009, 12:18 PM.The Festiva Store

I am slowly getting used to the cold weather again, after being in SoCal for years. 23 right now in the 'Burgh, down to 14 tonight. I can't wait to get all my belongings (and the 2 cars belonging to my brother) out of my garage so I can work on my Festy and the VW. My garage has one of those giant gas heaters that hang from the rafters, but I need to get new garage door seals to keep the warm in.

Lucky... I can't use my garage in winter.
The door has to stay sealed because the well equipment is in there...
Its been above freezing (30s) in the day time here, then freezing at night. My driveway is now an ice slick....
I probably need to do the valve cover gasket because the engine is covered in sludge, but I'm not sure I want to work on it in near freezing temps.
...maybe I can squeeze the car through the door in put it in the living room next to the wood stove...~Austin
