This is not as uncommon as you think - many overseas distributors only deal online - the Tein dealer I was dealing with near my hometown only sells things online - he has a warehouse to keep his parts but no official store. He also does consult work but thats always on location.
Many Aftermarket Import Parts are like this.
Like Brian said call in the afternoon thats the best time - I've only had 2 times where I've not gotten ahold of someone.
Really if you look at it they are in a business that has a very very very limited customer base and an ever dwindeling supply base - most of the stuff they sell comes from overseas or they source/manufacture themselves.
When it comes to custom parts you will find companys are simply not willing to work with you unless your ordering large quantities - FMS has this ability as a intermediate supplier. You have to look at the suply and demand. Even on this site there are a relitively small number of people that are running the custom parts - they are some of the most active but still small in numbers.
I challenge you to find 100 active members running the FMS body kit or the comp cam or any of the other preformance parts from the website. Sadly you will find this task as difficult as it was finding 20 active female members on this site.
When you look at these numbers you can see why the parts we have are so pricy and hard to come by as compared to the aftermarket parts for Honda's.
