My first Festiva was an automatic, L-Plus ac all the goodies. I was 16 at the time so I didn't have much reference on slow or fast but thought it was slow. Since then all I've had a manual's figured they were quicker, better mpg is nice also. Must say I'm impressed with this automatic.. it's alot quicker than I would give it credit for. I'd almost say it's just as quick as my dad's 5 speed that I have now, same options just different transmission. Could be the 210k on his versus 135k but both run strong, no blow-by etc. My old "L" probably is a bit quicker due to being lighter and all. I do have the airbox opened up a bit on mine where my dad's is stock, don't know if there's a hidden mod in there somewhere. Have no problem hitting 65-70mph on the on-ramps which is better than the Ranger and almost on par with our Escape. Past that it does start running out of steam unlike say the Escape. Can't comment on mpg my commute isn't mpg friendly. I do have a few ounces of MMO in crankcase and 4 oz in gas tank which helps. Granted I know it's not a 15 sec car but still I ain't complaining.
