  • vacuum hose question

On an '96 Aspire auto efi, what does the hose do that attaches on top of the intake? It's the single hose that 90 degree angles down into the center of the intake, right on top. Mine has been broken off and plugged.

My check engine light comes on. I went to the parts store and scanned the car. One code pops up, 0443. Wondered if this was the cause.

Ive looked through my aspire shop manual. Lots of pictures of that hook up. But nothing that IDs it. Cant see where the other end of the hose goes. I dont have the powertrain control emissions manual for an aspire, that might be what you need. Im curious too. My guess is that its part of the EGR system but not sure.

I'm only guessing, but I think it is the same on a Festiva. Can you tell what it is on a Festy?

I don't need the line FT, I'm just wanting some education more than anything. I know the line is vacuum, but wanted to know what it does, what it attaches to, what's its purpose.

I think it attaches to a vacuum switch on the plate that the wiper motor mounts to
