  • A little Ford Fiesta drive time

Was back in Germany over turkey day visiting friends and in-laws. Had to drive to Frankfurt for a job interview and got a Ford Fiesta as our rental car. Interior plastics a bit hard but dash design was nice. It just had the basic 1.25l motor so not much oomph. Still, had a top speed indicated at 190 kph with 210 on the downhills with the wind. Steering was quick, but not too feelsome though the car handled well.

    190 kph

not bad for this lil car. and yes, i'm in the middle of a lane. was moving over to pass.

also, rental car comes with snow tires. not even a special request. apparently recent law changes mandate snow tires on all vehicles in the winter. nice!

Looks kinda like a more rounded Focus.

Is it small like a Festiva, or in between a Festy and a Focus?

it was pretty roomy. smaller than a focus for sure, but it didn't feel cramped at all.

I love driving on the autobahn. Its so stress free when you want to haul butt. And I wish the US would take some lessons on how to pave a frickin' highway from the Germans. Always amazed at how smooth it is.

WOW The ones I drove here that Ford said were Euro models had 1.6 litre MTX or 1.4 Litre ATX (go figure) I really liked the car too! Those were Goodyear Eagle snow tires? Were they the studless type like Bridgestone Blizzaks? What a blast to drive the Autobahn!!!!

Yes, studless tires. So cool that they were on there straight from the rental company. Yeah, europe has so many engine variations out there. Lots o' tiny ones. Wish we had a turbodiesel though. Gas was not cheap.

Love your first pic. really gives us a sense of how much larger the Fiesta has become, even though its still a small car.

Wow, does it drive like a European car like the 78-80 did? or does it feel like a Honda Fit?

Well, definitely like a modern hot hatch, tight and direct. It felt a bit sportier than the Fit.

Hmm, looks like we are moving back to Germany. Quick decision. Looks like end of Feb, lol. Guess I'll be seeing more of these on a regular basis sooner than I thought. Oh, also saw a Focus RS as I drove by the local Ford dealer. Nice.

yeah, we went back and forth about moving back again. but this last visit settled it. its time to go back.
