  • Difference between the LX & L model?

    Mine being an LX I'm curious what the L model is about...I'm sure the LX is NOT the luxury version!

      actually, yes, it is. LX have power mirrors, upgraded interior (velour), and usually rear defrost, and often a/c, as well as a 5spd trans.

      L models have the base interior (standard cloth), no other option usually, and a 4spd trans.

        Mine's unusual, since it's an L but has an LX interior.

          I guess the main difference is Automatic & Manual...Hell this is my first manual car & I like it. I've only put $20 in the tank in the last month. My LX does NOT have power windows (I wish)

            Festivas are extremely forgiving. I've taught 11 people (myself included) to drive a stick on mine. The clutch has 190k on it and does not slip!!!

            Once you drive a stick, you'll never go back to an automatic.

              mine is a 93 l and has a 5 speed. It only had one mirror until the last owner added the second.

              Also mine came with black now gray bumpers. did the lx have there body color?

                The LXs were the upscale Festiva model until '91, when they were labelled "GLs." GLs had body colored bumper covers, while I think most LXs had the red stripe trim on their (black?) bumper covers.

                I don't see too many LXs lately.

                My '89L did come with a RWD though. I don't see how anyone in a temperate/cold region could do without that.

                  It has power mirrors, NOT windows.

                  If your windows are unusually hard to roll up, it's fixable. Search around the Custom interior or repair forum, search for Arnold. Oddly enough, I've never had problems with opening my windows.

                      i have seen plenty of junkyard festies in columbus oh without rear window defoggers.

                      my aspire came without one (though i have installed it now, it really is nice )

                        I have a 89 LX, loaded I believe it has every option available in 89. I also have a 93 GL it doesn't have alot of the stuff the 89 has but I think it has most options available in 93 and a few that I have added!

                            LX goodies

                            LX's (88-90) have as standard:

                            * Split fold-down rear seat. Very useful for hauling lumber -- I carry up to 12-foot 2x12s on the passenger side, with 4x8 plywood/drywall or the occasional 20' piece of pipe strapped to the roof -- while still leaving the left rear seat available,
                            * Tilt steering wheel,
                            * Trip odometer,
                            * Electric mirrors,
                            * Interval wipers,
                            * Cargo lamp,
                            none of which were apparently even available as options on the high-end GL (91-93).
                            88L black, dailydriver
                            88LX silver a/c, dailydriver
                            4 88/89 disassembled
                            91L green
                            91GL aqua pwrsteer
                            92GL red a/c reardmg
                            3 93L blue, 2 dailydriver, 1 frontdmg

                              All those "luxuries" add weight. I added a passenger side mirror and a tach cluster to my carbed '89L w/ rear defroster
