  • Owners of nice original Festivas - prices ?

I am stating this for some real answers. Not the general "whatever the market will bear" type statements.

Just a question rambling around in my mind I have thought about.

You guys with original Festivas, or near original, above average, clean,
    in very nice condition.

If you had to sell one, or wanted to sell one, what would you really want
for it ? I mean, what do you value such a car you have ? As a nice collector type driver car, what price would you place on an extra good and honest car ?
For year '88 thru '93. Not modified, but something original, nice, pristine.

Not trying to start any arguments, but kind of a value you owners think they are genuinely worth. I would like your dollar amount opinions, the options, etc.

    Comments anyone ?

    Thank you,

    :blob6:

Whatever the mark....oh wait. I guess the gold standard would have to be Freshtiva's cars. So what would you want for 'em, Fresh? And what would people give for one of his?

For non-Festiva Forum people just wanting a cheap car that gets great mileage, the price might be different. There is a "sweet spot" of affluence for non-Forum members who buy Festivas; if they're too well off they would buy something else, and if they're too poor they wouldn't pay big bux for a perfect one.

I think any Festy you are trying to sell....if you sell to someone other then a Festy lover, you can get more money for them. A good running car that gets the kind of mileage that ours do is worth decent money. Any decent running car gets ok money....now a Festy owner will wait for just the right one....or snag them for cheap to resell to others....

A Festiva with 50K-75K miles in pristine or very clean condition that needs no cosmetic or mechanical repair should easily be worth $1500 and up.

There's lots of them out there that have 150-250K miles on them and the asking price is $700. The problem is, many of them need $700 or more in repairs and the list goes on.

Buy the very best one you can afford and you'll be better off.

I have a number of them. Mine cost between "free" and $700. I feel fortunate I can work on them myself, otherwise, I couldn't justify owning them just for the savings in gas.

For one of fresh's cars I'd pay 200000000 because they are amazing.
But seriously I myself couldn't spend more than 700. Plus you can get a real nice festy for 700.... Like mine!

$1000 for just any festy less for carby models cause they care less desirable, $1500 tops for me if it has stuff like power steering, or sport edition

Simple Supply and Demand - something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

That being said I would not flinch at spending 1500 on a low mile rust free clean body Festiva LX or Canadian GL
For an American GL or L plus I would spend 900
and for a clean bodied L most likely not more than 700
Mind you I've paid less than 1000 for the three festiva's I own but its because part of the joy for me is building it and making it my own - something that you know is unique and one of a kind

I paid $700 for my 90 L plus. The only downside is that it just turned over 200K but it runs like a champ! I needed something cheap to drive (other car is a 87 Power Ram :sad3: ) This is by far the most Fun Per Mile I have ever gotten out of a car.

I have put over 100K trouble free (almost) miles on my '93. It is by far the most reliable and durable vehicle I have ever owned, and it still looks good and runs like new. I have spent a fair amount on it in the last 18 months (approx $1000), but it has 130K and 100% of the items I replaced were typical wear items like tires, brakes, struts, CV axles, wheel bearings and clutch. Considering the original purchase price of $2150.00 about 10 years ago, that brings my total spend to $3150.00 for 10 years and 100K miles of service. When you factor in the fuel mileage (43-47MPG), low cost of insurance, taxes and compare it to ANY other car, the results are obvious. I think the market belies the true value of these cars. If I did not already have one and found a low mile, pristine example, I would would not be ashamed to spend $2500 or $3000. Especially if it had A/C and other options.
I know that's way above market value, but what other car of proven dependability, fun and efficiency can you buy for less than that? People will spend $2000.00 on a blown-out Honda or Toyota and not bat an eye because of the name and the perceived quality.
When you really think about it, these cars are a steal. Just my opinion.......

I gotta agree. For a near-perfect low-mileage one with lotsa options I'd pay that much too.

well according to most market value calculators here in Aus a '91 model that averages 20k a year and is well-kept and hassle free could still fetch around $2-2.5k AUS...

Now, if we speak realistically lol. Most '91's i have been looking at are ranging from $1-1.5k AUS for a 'good' car and $3-500 for a parts car.

If I were to sell mine (which will never happen!) I guess I'd ask for around the $1.5k AUS considering it's in great condition and is the Sports model and is well under the est 380,000 that most value calculators say to expect(!).

(oh and btw I blew a civic off this morning and i'm still stock! love it!)
