  • drain on battery

i was reading about checking on something draining my battary overnight.

my 91 chrysler book says to disconect the negative battary cable and put a continuity between the disconected cable end and the negative battary post and if the light comes on it has a drain somewhere.

my 98 ford winstar book it says to disconect the positive battary cable to do this test.

i am confused if they are both right because of the models or it is a misprint somewhere.

thank you in advance for anyhelp on this matter

it works either way. i prefer the ground cause thats how i was taught. its better to use an amp clamp or a shunt box rather than just hooking up you 10amp meter in series and blowing the fuse.... and as for the test light it will tell you if there is a drain but it wont tell how much. if the test light does not light up you should try an multi meter.
I know its a piece of crap but im still faster...and its 100% legal!!!!!
