  • Hyundai fans?

Ive been after another festiva off and on for quite some time, and have been passing up some actual FREE cars. Is a hyundai Scoupe a bad vehicle to swap a larger engine into? I understand a stripped scope isn't that much heavier than the aspires ive had. I consider hyndais just as sleeper as the aspires and festivas. With cali smog i don\t see this as something to be accused of stolen or illegal swap parts like a honda civic. WIKI says its got a mitsubishi 1.5L engine, but i cannot find the engine code to do some more internet research. Is it the same engine used in the early 1990s Mitsu DE coupes? From a few links it looks like the alpha and beta series engines have the same bellhousing pattern? Sounds just as good as what we've got over here.

I've seen some Scoupes with 4G63s in them and such, if you get one for free I'd say work with it.
    Current cars:

1993 Ford Festiva 5-Speed - Festiclese III - Cousin of the Banhammer - "The Jalopnik Car"
    1984 Toyota Cressida - 2JZGE Swap, Turbocharged.
2013 Mazda Mazda2 - Exhaust and Wheels (the daily)
    2002 Toyota Tundra - V6/Auto/2WD - The Tow Vehicle.

A 4g63 would be an excellent swap for that car.

Yeah, 4g63 would be the end-all but hurt my SRT-4's feelings lol. I was thinking just a modest 1.8 or 2.0 NA engine to give it zip and retain most of the economy, similar to euro's sweetheart B8-me. Also keeping the same transaxle would be great. I was offered a scoupe 5speed a while back and don\t know if the offer still stands. it does not run, but do not know why. The mom doesnt know why it got parked either. If it is the engine then uh yeah why find another 1.5? swappage all the way. i just need to know if the engines all face the same way etc. if its as complex as that v6 thread then ill bow out before i dream any more.

After checking out boards it looks like only the first 2 years apply for the 4g63 engine. the people who show the turbo examples are also shop owners with tube frame sandrails. slightly outta my league there, trying to keep to weekend type projects if anything. Also I dont know what year this girls car is. blek still looking for that elusive clean but no engine white GL festy heh.
