If you want a v6 truck with some juice then I'd recommend an 04-up Tacoma with the 4.0. Albeit it would be tough to find one in that price range.

I would much rather an extended cab or a crew cab like the one I have plus four wheel drive. However, on the flip side I would buy truck just because it is a stick. You can't find anything that is a standard transmission anymore unless it is a sports car or a semi. I wish i could find a truck that was a manual tranny.Man should eat when he can for Man does not know when his last meal will be.

They're great trucks. I've always thought the V6 was too small for that size of truck, but depending on what you want to use it for, it will get you there and back. That's a good price if the truck is in decent condition and if you don't mind the V6 then go for it.

We got an 01' F150 at work with a v6 and we use it for delivery's and I personally beat the crap out of it, well over 240k miles on it and I think around 200k we had to replace the intake on it cause it was clogged or something, but other then that and an a/c recharge we haven't done crap to it and it's still runs good. Been waiting for it to die so we can get a newer one....lol

I had an '01 F150 XL long box as a company vehicle for several years and loved it. The one I had was a 4.2L V6 / Auto but it had some kind of tow package. It had 3.73:1 gears with a Traction-Loc rear end, 4 wheel discs and P255/70R-16 tires with a stiffer suspension. To be honest, it would "scream" for a V6, probably due to the 3.73 gears. It also drove and handled like a sports car. I put about 130K miles on it before I left the company. I would love to find another one for that kind of money.
The company I work for now has an '07 F150 V6 for a delivery truck and I hate driving it.
It's heavier, hard to see out of, slower and doesn't feel near as nimble as the '01 did.
I would jump on it for that kind of money!Brian
