Axle spline interchangeability question

Is there a standard for automotive axle spline dimensions? I know there are spline
dimensions in the Machinist's Handbook, but it doesn't cover automotive spline sizes.
For example can you take any 26 spline axle and it will have the same dimensions as
a 26 spline axle from another make?

no. the auto industry does not adhere to industrial machining standards.

Theres some weird situations where they crossbreed though as I've seen. For example, if you want to put a Hyundai transmission in a Swift GT you can use a Tiburon axle complete on one said and apparently some type of Eclipse axle on the other. So obviously there is some interchangeability, probably from the company who designs the hub spline and axles. You just have to experiment or find out spline measure and counts before you do anything.

Same situation: Like how certain companies like Aisin make transmissions which can be swapped around from totally different brands. For example my transmission in my Cressida is the same part number and everything as a Volvo of the same year, and a newer Suzuki Sidekick if I remember correctly, all you have to do is swap bell housings from what I've seen.
