  • Pulling a engine at picknpull

Has anybody on here pulled a engine at a picknpull? They have several, around 5 or more, escort gt's I didn't check the proteges but they have quite a few as well. They say engines are $150 and transmissions start at $75. I'm trying to figure out how to do it, they have a engine lifts available but how does it go from the yard into the car? Somehow I don't see myself wheel barrowing a engine and transmission out, although I watched a guy try it with a transmission on gravel.. good entertainment if I say so myself. The next question I have is if the engine/transmission combo will fit in the tiva? I was going ask them on friday when I return a part or two and start pulling the aspire brake upgrades, just wanted your guys opinion.

I brought a jack and my engine hoist to get my engine. The yard lets me drive my truck in the yard. Tell them you'll only buy it if you can drive in and get it.

The yard I goto has these huge engine hoists that you can rent. It's got big wheels which will let you go over the rocky terrain.

You should be able to get the engine and tranny in, but I'm not sure about being connected together and in.

I hauled my B6 home from a yard in the back of my Festiva. They used a forklift with the engine on a short chain on one fork to put it in. I used my engine hoist to get it out.

You might be able to do an engine/tranny combo, but I wouldn't want to try it. Just too bulky.

I hauled a Contour 2.5L home in Uncle Fester. Me and a friend just picked it up and put it in.

talkin bout u wrench it right? i'd just pull my car over to that side gate door and use the engine hoist to roll it to the hatch. take it through the new car staging area. they shouldn't have a problem with that, cuz trust me it isn't a big block chevy but the bp is still a heavy engine.

I asked them today about it. What happens is after you pull it and push the hoist up to the front there is a big flat cart, don't use the wheel barrows or you will be banned for a week, and there is a hoist in the front of the building to load it into the car. Sounds like alot of work. Now if only if they would have a capri or mx3, I've almost decided that the BP swap for me the newbie is to much. That and I can't afford it once you figure in the axles and such.

did they not have an xr2 down there? i know they used to have at least one there all the time. of course last time i went they didn't have a single festiva, but had 3 SHO's with engines intact!

Nope, I didn't see anything that would have 1.6 DOHC in it. At one of the junkyards here they about 4 in stock for around 200 and piece, so I may go that route. But I looked at my reciept and picknpull has 50% off between Dec. 31 and Jan. 5.. I think. May have to get a 1.8 just for a spare. The only problem with that is someone took most of the ignition parts off of all the 1.8's in the lot, so I have no way of telling if any of them are good.
