Yeah, and there a lot of it made for the synthesis of other chemicals.
One of the chemical weapons used in WWI.
Think it banned as a weapon now.

I'm just learning to weld. I heard about the carb cleaner trick for cleaning, but after reading that, I'm going to be ultra paranoid about using anything! :shock:

Just use some alcohol. It's safer. I use it on stuff I weld.

Just don't use chlorinated solvents.
Ingredients are on the side of most cans.
If the contents aren't listed on the can don't use it!
There are a lot of non-chlorinated cleaners now made which are safer for humans and the environment.

Exactly. Most brake cleaners will state if they are non-chlorinated. It is in big letters right on the front of the can.

Also, always use the right cleaning solvent for the work you are doing! Carb clean is for carbs, brake clean is for brakes, and degreaser is for your engine and engine bay. There is a reason why there all these different types of cleaners.
