  • Ticking noise

New to the forum here. I have 3 Festivas, 92, 93 and the third is just a parts vehicle now. Currently working on the 92. Was leaking oil from the valve cover and the front crankshaft oil seal. Replaced the valve cover seal, the camshaft seal and the front crankshaft seal. Went to work the next day and lost almost every drop of oil in the car. Barely made it to a gas station without destroying the engine. Got towed home by a friend and tore the car apart only to find that the front crankshaft seal had popped out of the engine block. Turns out that my good buddies over at Autozone had sold me the wrong seal. Long story short, replaced the seal, did an oil change, new filter and everything was fine except for one small detail. Since my wife has been taking the cars to grease monkey, I haven't done an oil change. So, stupid me, I just filled the car with five quarts of oil like I normally do. Come to find out that it takes something like 3.9 quarts. Oops. My car has been ticking like it needs oil but I read here that over filling can cause churning of the oil, making air bubbles, getting air into the lifters, making noise. Is that all true? Would be nice to just drain some oil and be done with this. Sorry for the long dissertation but I hate when I spend hours working on something to no avail. Thanks for llistening and I welcome any thoughts on this.

I would try draining some oil and see where that gets you, where are you located, and welcome to the site.:hello2:
