Hoping some of you who have done a mercury Capri swap can help me. I am looking at buying a 1991 capri DOHC non turbo car (to be used later in a festiva swap) but want to run it as is for a few years. What can you tell me about what to look at/for as far as reliabilitiy. The car I am looking at has quite a bit of oil around the top of the engine but it starts up and runs fine but does blow white smoke for a few minutes till it warms up (cold here in michigan). There is a belt squealing noise for about 1 minute the first time the car was started, but then that went away and when you restart the car it doesn't do that. Does that mean the alternator or water pump is going? The radiator was just replaced and the it has a new top (2years old). What should I look for, is the oil normal on 136,000 engine or is it a problem. Are parts hard to get? Thanks in advance for your help
ps. I didnt put this in the engine mod section because I thought many of you might have had experience with the capri, but haven't put one in a festiva (yet).
