Dude frickin SWEEEET! an early 90's miata is at the top of my current want list. And IF i had the money in the future, LS series v8 engine swap, full cage, coilovers, and an autokonexion widebody kit and the sweptback style hardtop. currently we have an 01 miata special edition with adjustable konis on it and it is sooooo much fun! Have fun with it and nice score!!!

Edit: I have been pricing Miatas around here and you got a super deal.:thumbright:

$1000.00 for a Miata?!?! Around here, beat up, rusty and not running costs more than that!

C'mon, be a man and face your irrational fears! Buy one and then paint it pink, or you're just a scared little girl!!

Great deal. I would pay that in a heart beat....
Aspires and Sways all around, Miata B6 installed, KYB G2Rs just installed in front. Wish for coil overs someday.

today is the last day on the warranty i found in glove box.
that being said, i found the reason i think i got such a good deal.
                OIL IN RADIATOR!
i mean it looks like just straight oil for coolant.
while changing spark plugs i noticed oil on one of the plugs threads, but not on the tip.
since its a dohc, i have no clue what that meant, till i pulled the hose and oil came out.
oil in motor looks good, it hasnt leaked or used any since the night i got it,(300 miles ago)

still think i got a good deal? i still do.

it still runs and drives fine.
gonna drain and refill radiator and oil and filter today and see what happens

Rebuild now or run till it stops!

Or look for a new engine and be proactive.

Y'never know, it could just need a vavle cover gasket and have gross buildup in the radiator from never being changed. Maybe not.

Remember, the water pump and timing belt are regular maintenance on Miatas. 60k miles or less and it's really easy to do. I didn't even have to pull the radiator or fans to do mine.

i am getting $900 when i finish my blue festy,(money was gonna go to a bike)
but this car is almost as fun as driving a festiva, so,
should i drop the $900 in the miata motor? that would only be $1900 total,
and then i will know it gots a good motor.

If you want to put $900 into a motor, you could get a BP-z 1.8L from a later model and do a full gasket kit on it and have a bit more power and a reliable engine, however, you will lose some of the 'fun' of driving the Miata if you do this because the B6-ZE is a rev happy little motor, much more than the BP.

edit: A mild build on the B6-ZE will produce a lot of fun and reliability and is the direction I would go, having owned one myself. I was rather disappointed in the BP to be honest.

on the list of items put on it 7000 miles ago were,
                          timing belt
                          water pump
                          valve cover gasket
                          front and rear main seals
                          new radiator
                          hoses

                          i will look into everything.
when they installed the cover gasket it could have shifted? will replace it today
