  • Mystery Dash Switch Wiring

    Hi all,

I changed over to a tacho Cluster yesterday & found this connector clipped into one of the Dash Switch blanking plates. Can anyone identify the wiring?
Power Mirrors? Fog Lights? There are only two wires on the male connector.

The Owners Handbook doesn't show any factory options for a switch at this position.

NB: The pic's not reversed, this is a RHD 1988 Mazda 121. The location is to the right of the Steering Wheel where there are two Switch blanking plates. Rear Window Defrost & Wiper are already on the Left side.

    Thanks,

Here is the US the plugs are stubbed in for the different options that were available. That one here is for the rear defrost and the one next to it is for rear wiper.

I think the rear defrost is a four pin plug. The three pin plug is rear wiper IIMC. Its just sticking out of the wrong hole.

Thanks for all the responses. My car is a Japanese built 121 so already has Rear wiper/washer and demister switches on the Left Side of the cluster cover panel. This must be for the Factory Fog Lights. Wires are Blue with Red & yellow stripe.

Stefan - If you have these installed could you take pics of the Switch, Fog Lights & Wiring in the front clip? I'd like to try & retrofit this option. Thanks.

Thanks. Hopefully some well optioned 323's or Ford Lasers had the same set-up & so it can be salvaged from a JY.

Ok sorry for the horrible cell phone pics

The switch is a two wire connector. Red/White and Red/blue

I couldn't find anything worth talking pics of in the front clip. The wiring is part of the factory harness

                            That's great, thanks.

Finding a Front Bumper like that will be the real challenge - haven't seen any like that before. May have to modify another or track down a lower section like the one on this local AWD version of the Ford Tracer:
