  • Is the speedo cable gear driven?

I scored a cruise control on eBay for $42 after shipping, but I need a VSS to make it work. There is a universal one on there now for $20. I am not sure if Fesitva speedo cables are gear drive or if the cable is squared off. Anyone know or have a picture?

$20 is too much if it won't work.

    Thanks,

    Garsdad

it's a square cable, it mounts on to the gear drive at the transmission.

Be sure to do a search for "cruise control" to see what other info is available.

i currently have a cruise control system (out of the vehicle now) that has a bracket and then you attach a magnet to the CV joint housing.. i guess thats the "VSS" - is you're the same way? mine doesn't have anything to do with the speedometer cable.

The one I just ordered goes inline with the speedo cable. Once I have that, I can install the system and see how it works. I have a total of $68 in a system that retails for abotu $250 so I am OK with having to work a little to get it in.
