  • Minivan carnage

This morning my wife was driving the children to daycare and was struck by a runaway tire. Apparently an oncoming pickup lost it's rear wheel and it torpedoed the van on the front passenger side at highway speed. Everyone was fine but the minivan in pretty bad shape. We now have a Ford Focus rental and it does not come close to replacing the minivan.

What might be the worse part about this whole situation is that without the minivan I won't be able to get the BP engine I was going to pick up this weekend.

    Anyway, here's the damage.

Ouch, glad it wasn't the Festiva. It would have torn in 1/2 lol.

Wow! She's lucky! I've seen truck wheels slice halfway thru fullsize cars. The occupants usually don't fare too well...

Whoa, at least the car took all the impact and none of the passengers. You never know what might be coming at you. Glad everyone is okay !

Complain to the insurance and tell them the focus isn't big enough and it is not a replacement for a minivan. Tell them you need something equivalent. I did this when my Bonneville got totaled and they tried to give me a geo metro. I told them a subcompact does not replace a full size car and I need an upgrade. They gave me the upgrade.

Yeah, they're looking for a minivan replacement. We hope to get a call today.

I'm trying to get another vehicle lined up so I can go and get the engine. I'd really like to have it. You think a BP will fit in the trunk of a Ford Focus?

We got the call. They'll be replacing the Focus with either a minivan or SUV. Either way I'm going to get the engine on Saturday. Road trip!

Wes, I left you a PM with my email address. What's a BP weigh? Thanks man.

You do something like that to one of our rentals and we will hunt you down!

Well, maybe not hunt you down, but you would get a bill for cleaning and damages.

Just rent a pick up for a day. Ask for an upgrade. You may have to pay the difference, but the rental company should do it for you (we would).
