  • New from Northern California

Hello everyone, I'm Scott. I live in northern California near Sacramento. I found this site after looking up B6T and BPT swaps online. I've been interested in doing this ever since I read about it once in a magazine a while back. I don't have a Festiva yet but I will soon so I can build an inexpensive daily driver that I can have fun with. Anyways, thanks for your time.

Hey Scott! There are several people here in Sac with Festivas. I'm planning on swapping a BP soon on mine.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I have no doubts that I will be addicted once I start working on a Festiva. Considering how addicted I am with my two biggest interests right now(diesel powered pickups and rockcrawling), I know I will be addicted to Festivas in no time.

I don't doubt it one bit. The power to weight ratio in a swapped/turboed Festiva has got to be ungodly so I can only imagine how fast one would be.

they feel alot faster than they are. Mine weighs 1950 full of gas. And just put 154hp/170 ftlbs. on the dyno. Traction becomes the limiting factor in high powered featherweight cars.

                Mucho fun though.

Nice. There's always a weak link though. If its not traction its usually the trans or clutch.

Scott you already know. LoL. But bigger/stronger parts are out there (i.e. g-series trans). That's the beauty of the festivas. So many possible combos, of motor & tranny.

Yeah, I learned the whole weak link thing from my experience with diesel pickups and with rockcrawlers. But that is another thing that I like about the Festiva world. The many different combinations of engines and transmissions make it interesting to me. One thing I have learned though is that if you want the best and strongest parts, be prepared to shell out some cash for it. Gotta pay to play, right?

Sort of. Funny thing is that you can buy a "running" donor for just a couple hundred bucks.

                        I got mine to run a 14.0 @98mph for less than $2k.

Both of my motor swap came from $400 cars that I was able to drive home. There are a few parts that'll cost ya tho. Like a beefy clutch. And whatever new parts you put on it.

I just built a car for Tom (TominMO.) And spent $1500+- 100. Now it's a b6(1.6L) sohc. RT (rear turbo).

Here's a link to his build.

Good to know. I like the idea of budget minded performance upgrades that can be done to a Festiva. Its a nice alternative to what I'm used to.
