  • Hello from Kentucky

Hello everyone! just another new guy who stop in for a visit and decided too stay. I just pick up my first Festiva and love it. I was a VW Bug guy for many years and got tired of dumping money into those rust buckets, so I decided to find a different small car. My Festiva is a 91 with what I believe to be a 94 motor in it. I have no idea how many miles it has on it, but i'm sure it's a lot; it show's 156000, but the odometer is broken. I am currently replacing the entire exhaust and most of frotend components: lower control arms, bushings,cv axles, should improve the handling.
Anyway, just wanted to say hay!

Hi and welcome! If it's a '94 engine it'd have to be a swap. As the festiva b3 EFI would have only come from '89-'93 festiva, correct?

This is all i have left from my VW collection, a 1:30 video of my last car that I built just before I sold it. The Festiva is at my buddies house awaiting parts.
charlie1717, I think it's a motor out of an Aspire, looking at the pictures in the front of my Haynes manual.
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

Another video of the Baja. These were was for a guy that wanted to buy it that lived about four hours away, he drove it home!

                      Welcome!
Check the speedo cable to see if it broken.
Replacement isn't hard and it will get your speedo/odo back on line.
LCA, Anti-sway bar bushings (left, right, and front) will make a big difference in handling.
Personally, I'd wait on the CV's, if they're quiet, they should be fine.
You can swap axles without removing the LCA's, if you couldn't I'd agree with changing them while you're doing the LCA's.
Spend some time making sure your bearings, front and back, are OK.
                      Welcome and enjoy!

The CV's were both bad, hard as hell to drive; speed up, cars goes left, slow down car goes right, turn right or left click, click, click.
Ball joints were also bad is why I want to replace the LCA's.
The exhaust is all finished up and is nice and quite now. No more kids covering their ears when I drop my girls off at school.
