  • Temp Radiator Repair

So I popped my resivor yesterday and of course there weren't any at all of the parts stores in town so I added an new tool to my "tool kit".

    Water Weld Putty Repair Epoxy

Worked well got me home to the parts car - I clamped the lower radiator hose and only lost the 1/2 gallon or so in the radiator when I swapped.

Edit: I trust the hold - I could with confidence drive it with for quite some time

So your parts car had the over flow reservoir and you don't need one?
How did you "pop" your reservoir?

Already replaced with the one out of the parts car that same night - the repair was just to get home to the parts car I have a new one on order since I no longer have a spare. The picture was taken before I swaped it out.
                And eiather name is fine

                John -
It was the resivor tank on the radiator itself not the overflow (top part of the radiator) it may have had a stress crack in it all along ~ I don't know the history of it as it was a junkyard part to get the car back on the road after rebuilding the front end
One thing I noticed is the shroud is different on the parts cars rad - its deeper even though the fan is identical - parts car had A/C though

this is 2 part epoxy looks like a tootsie roll? parts store now sells it.

the best was the stuff used by plumbers for emergency fix of hot water systems. It was only for temporary use

i know of several cars with "repaired" radiators to last years, both plastic and copper. Works on small cracks or holes

temporary correct - but it will hold for many years

It repaired a 3 inch crack and drove an hour on it down the highway so It worked for me.
