        No, it will not fit. The Escort engine you want is the 1.8 from the GT.

            oh it will fit, just have to lube it up a little and do a lot more wiring. heck you can probably even use F-series axles, If Damkid and I can shoehorn V6's in our cars I'm sure the 1.9 can be made to fit, its just going to take some doing and you will be a pioneer.

              real question is, yes, it WILL fit... the 1.9's are a ford design, not mazda like the festiva and the 91-96 escort gt's 1.8 BP engine.
              Your work involved for the 1.9 to fit will be a nightmare... thats why the mazda engine 1.8 BP out of the gt's will work much much better.
              plus, its only like 88 or so hp compared to 127 for the 1.8.
