  • 'Lectricstivas: Nice looking EV site! I WANT ONE!!!!

Here is a link to "Wilderness EV" in Moroni, Utah:

They have a Festiva page, and say several Festivas have been converted to electric.

I'm going to check this out. Maybe the Mutt can get rid of her carb for good and I won't have to do so much FI conversion work! And save $$$ on commuting to work, too (less than 10 miles one way).

BTW, Roger said he has "heavy duty" spring sets for the Festiva. Stock size and ride height, but stiffer for more weight carrying ability. Might be just the ticket for an EV Festiva.

I doubt it's available any more or it would be on their "available cars" page.

I'll probably be contacting them soon though.

15kw motors. There's one motor. 20hp. But their response to that is:
A 1 horsepower electric is equal to a 3-4 HP gas engine in performance.

and that's an accurate statement, since 100% of an electric motor's torque is available at 0rpm.

Engineering Toolbox has a bunch of good articles in there. In any case, all that torque at 0 is absolutely useless. It's a great figure, but it's useful in exactly one gear, and only marginally at that. After that, it's a dog. Power is what makes things move.
