    Ive been using vinyl dye to paint my interior plastics. Works quite well if you throroughly clean the plastic first. A little bit of clear coat and it looks great!

      WD-40 works good for removing that sticky tape funk. I would also wipe everythig down with pure ammonia before any prep or paint. This will remove anything that was applied by a past owner. Wiping it down first keeps you from forcing what may have been applied deeper into the plastic or fiberglass. Fish eyes are no fun!
