  • Galvanized Festy ???

I have a friend that can take any part and Galvanize it for me.Think anything on a Festy is worth doing it to ?

  • #2
Strip it to bare shell, strip it down to bare metal and do the whole body and leave it that way. Talk about unique and rust proofing at the same time. I wonder if that would really help?

By the way, ^^^ That's 99.9% city driving

I actually thought about that ,but, because of the slight rough surface I decided not to.

That could be changed by changing the chemical composition and or processing of the galvanization process. Or maybe wet sand it in the summer and clear coat it to preserve the zinc crystal patterns.

I recently saw a hot rod in a magazine (can't remember which one)....the guy had stripped the paint, sanded the bare metal, then went over it with steel wool or something similar, to make that "Delorean" look. Instead of a clear coat, he just wipes it down regularly with machine oil and wd-40, which keeps it from rusting after a light rain.
If it has boobs or wheels, sooner or later you're going to have trouble with it.

I thought about covering mine with aluminum foil
But that would probably double the weight of the car

Up here in the Last Frontier, we use a light coating of moose dung to protect against rust. It lasts longer than WD-40, and the mild odor keeps the state bird (the mosquito) away.

Naw, that's awesome.. it's called use whatever works.

Was thinking that it's a good sign that your route into work is a little off the beaten path when you see moose along the road on the way in.. and that just happened to me last week. But if I want to see more moose, think I need to try the dung trick. Just don't use moose urine on the car, don't think that Festivas were designed to be mounted by humping moose..

                          ^ A full-grown bull moose would destroy a Festiva.
I saw a young bull (small paddles) last summer and he was as tall as my truck.
