Is a question I have been asking myself recently, I just don't get it...I mean I have had so many discouraging words and opinionated people imposing their so called knowledge and authority on me and seriously I just cant let it get to me, its very annoying. I mean theres this one dude who I told about the BP swap I'm doing and how I am keeping my stock festiva transmission, which as you all know has been done many many times, but apparently because he has worked on cars for 50000 years he knows everything about everything and basically started screaming at me stating that he knows for a fact that a festiva trannsmission will not bolt up to an escort gt engine, that the swap is impossible and on and on about how I am stupid for trying this impossible feat that he knows from all of his experience that my swap will not work blah blah blah and hes an expert and even though hes never worked on a festiva or done anything related to this project, he is just certain that the transmission would not bolt up and it really is funny how dumb he looks to me, but no hes so certain that he knows all that nothing i say can convince him otherwise, I even showed him the BP Swap guide from mattswabb that I keep in my car( yeah guess im wierd) and he went on to say Aw I dont care what that stupid internet stuff says Im telling you it wont work I know it wont your gonna regret it and so on and so forth, And I know I should just laugh it off and not let someone so stubborn get to me but it really bothers me, so i just said to him you know what, your right, guess i should just not do it and of course "ah I know Im irght, you gotta be stupid to wanna put that engine in that car anyway blah blah aill bet it runs like a POS ....So i just dont get how people can be so ignorant, and not even that but so unwilling to see the truth, its just frustrating..eh I guess the upside is all this negative energy just makes me more motivated to get my car swapped and fixed up , lol hell probably still not believe its possible. I would recommend that you do the swap and give the guy a ride in it. Then say, "Yep, you were right!". Then pop the hood and say, "Oh, btw, that's a Festy tranny mounted to a BP motor.". And I recommend you never let him work on your car because he is to narrow minded to get more education and he'll probably do something to "prove" he's right.Last edited by Levitan; 05-06-2010, 11:04 AM.ENFORCER - Midwest Festiva Inc., Iowa

lol it bothers me because i guess im just a feable minded guy? I dont know ok so bhazard your telling me it wouldnt be frustrating to you to have someone call you stupid and insult your festiva etc etc and to top it all off no matter what you do you cant show him how stupid he really is so you just have to shrug it off? yeah im not "crying" about it but it almost had me headbutt him in the face for insulting my car that i have devoted so much time and money to, so sorry if i seem to be "crying" but i figured some people would see where I'm coming from. Thanks for letting me share

If you've owned a Festiva for any length of time I'd have thought you'd have gotten used to people insulting your car.
It comes with ownership of a small car in the land of "bigger is better".
The only time you get much "respect" is when gas is $4+ a gallon or you have a swapped Festiva and you smoke them.
Stupid is not correctable, ignorance is!
Which is he?'93 Blue 5spd 230K(down for clutch and overall maintanence)

IMHO those big gas hoggin ozone layer depleting cars are the jokes, i guess if you just have money to liquidate into gas like that go for it but thats not helping the global warming situation at all, and yeah its sad but true that we have to be used to people insulting our cars, my dad has driven festivas since I was 6, i learned to drive stick on a festiva, weve had 6 festivas in my family in that period, and I have had two myself so im not just someone who recently discovered the "fiesta"....

That's kilometers, so roughly 300,000 miles. Just hit it yesterday.Last edited by Aaronbrook37; 05-06-2010, 12:17 PM.1988 Chevy Sprint Turbo 997cc

Awesome!^^
Perfect example.
I definitely hate when people put my car down.
I have no problem them laughing at it because it's old and small and my little cute blue car. But it's the insults about the quality of the car. I don't know why but it bothers me too.
Usually it's the kids with their Mustangs or brand new cars that call my car crap.
My usual reaction is... "Sorry my parents didn't buy my car." that usually shuts them up. When that doesn't work I make sure they know that when my car brakes down it will cost me under 100 to fix MYSELF vs them bringing it to a shop and the car being worthless after 150,000 miles :p
So I'm going to side with Claude. I get ircked also. But I don't mind people laughing at the car. Just insulting it.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
