with the help of a friend of mine Skimsucka i came across this gem of a 1991 festiva. after much of a hassle as to finding a dolly to tow it. finally spent the money to rent one at uhaul.....drov the 3.5 hrs accross the state to pick it up.. as soon as i pulled up to the house i found myself anxious ..it was on a trailor in the back yard .for the past 6 months.. and the guy i bought it from got it from an old man that passed away . turns out it was the original owner.. and most of its 160,000 mile life was behind a camper.. the guy made the description of the car as hardly drivable as the transmission made a horrible grinding and squealing noise not to mention 4th gear was completely gone.and it popps out of 2,3,and 5 instantly...the boy seemed to be in good condition as there is hardly any rust at all. the motor fired instantly and sounded fairly healthy a slight knock coming from the lifters was audible but thats about it, after the 4 hr drive home(instead of 85mph there we did 70 back) i immediately got to work on making the engine sound new.. first a quick oil change with 10/40 the knock dissapeared,lucas fuel inj. cleaner and
seafoam deep creep.fuel treatment and a wonderul concoction of 5galpremium and a half gallon 110 race fuel the engine is now running smooth as ever, i also flushed the radiator to make sure its cooling properly. went to the local junkyard jacked a tranny from what looked like an attempted festiva truck.skimsucka was sick so it took me longer than it shouldve but hey itll be worth it in the end...
i plan on first getting it on the road then doin a simple paint job and a few simple interior changes to make it more roomy and installing a nice stereo,some hid headlights,and eventually i will think about engine mods/swap isnt out of the picture either.... skimsucka will also be involved in the future of this car as well...im gonna add pics soon so i can keep a journal of it.....
