Here is my question... does anyone know if a person can swap an engine from a 96 contour auto into a 97 escort with a 5 speed...
would it work with minimal effort?

well i had a 97 escort with the sohc engine given to me for free and i found a 96 contour at salvage for like 300 bucks thought i could make the escort run again with the contour engine....90 festiva BP/G25MR swap, spec v seats, aspire brakes, FMS springs, round headlight conversion with HID's, custom exhaust, fiberglass hood, and a whole lotta bodywork

what's the contour have in it?Trees aren't kind to me...

I believe they have a 2.0 DOHC zetec... however I have done some reading and they both use the same tranny...90 festiva BP/G25MR swap, spec v seats, aspire brakes, FMS springs, round headlight conversion with HID's, custom exhaust, fiberglass hood, and a whole lotta bodywork

probably gonna need the entire wiring harness and computer plus all the mounts from a zx2 escort and you should be good to go. Its been done a few times.Comment

If you get the sport Contour they have a 2.5L and a 5speed
Its relatively common for Contour guys to swap in the Vulcan3.0 from the taurus of the same generation for some great power at a much cheaper cost than boosting. Its their version of our BP swap i guess?1992 Festiva... BP-T, Escort G5MR, no crossmember, aspire brakes, Megasquirt, Toyota COP's, coilovers and 6 puck SPEC clutch!
