    what clutch are you running?

im wondering if i can get away with using a clutchnet 3 puck disk with the stock pressure plate...

    anyone running a similar setup?

The disk does not matter as much as the pressure plate. The holding force comes from the pressure plate. I used a spec stage 1 with my b8 turbo and it slipped. I went to a suzuki swift (ACT) and modified my flywheel to fit it. I'd go for a stage whatever pressure plate and keep the stock disc. Casper had a clutchnet 4 puck and the red pressure plate and slipped.

using a 3 puck almost doubles the stock clamping force. it gets concentrated to only 3 small pads instead of the whole disk. and the material bites harder.. but im worried it still might not be enough and i might need the dual diaphram.. i used to have one and it gripped awesome on my b6t swap..

        anyway

im thinking that it will be fine with the stock tires and as long as i keep it NA.. but any boost and its going to slip for sure.. i guess we'll see

You know its actually funny you bring this up. I have ran a act street/strip clutch on a stock pressure plate and had no problems. the guys at probetalk say that running a high performance clutch with a stock pressure plate has actually saved their trannys when getting into the 300 and higher hp area.

No. I'm not saying Don't. I suggest using as good as of clutch as you can get. I just think a stiffer pressure plate provides more "grab" than just a crazy friction disc. I personally use an act 6 puck sprung hub in my car. It's rated for 365 ft/lbs.

bomboutscort: you arent running the stock festiva trans though are you?

the problem is the stock festiva pressure plate is soo small the clamp force isnt that great.. but im hoping its just enough
