Headlight polish

I've been needing to clean the headlights on my Dakota but didn't want to spring $20.00 for the kits at Wally World or McParts.
I found a bottle of Blue Magic Headlight Lens restorer at the local Dollar General for $5.50. Thought I would gamble on it. Here are a couple of photos after I used it.

I spent about 5-6 minutes per side buffing them.

Meguiers plastix or pretty much any polishing compound

To polish headlights....every day on my teeth.

I have used 1000 then 2000 grit wetsand paper and then finish off with rubbing compound and wax to keep them protected longer.

I'll bet you can see better at night now, that's the best part.

i used meguiers diamond cut polishing compound. made a huge difference how bright my highbeams were.

We have sold all of the above for years now. A tube of the Blue Magic metal polishing creme, or the tub does the same. To speed up the process, or improve results, a 2 or 3" foam pad on a drill used at slow speed works well. The Meguires kit does *ever* so slightly better in brightning the plastic up, but there really is very little difference between the kit and Blue Magic..... except money!

mothers aluminum polish works well also on plastic lenses

I did my truck lenses with sandpaper, steel wool, and Brasso. Removed the yellow tinge and cleaned them up a bit. Still not nearly as clear as the turn signal lenses, but better.
