My dad found and sent to me a 1990 Festiva Car Shop Manual that he picked up for me at a swap meet for less than I paid for my Haynes manual. Now if I can just find one for an 88 I will be set. Diagnosis should be a bit easier now. Haynes was OK, but i see the more detailed approach now. Of coarse the first reason to find one was to learn how to replace the front wheel bearings the correct way. I did one pair but they didn't last long.:p So now I can learn how to get the spacers correct.
