  • Drove my mom's car into 3 feet of water, loopy idle and sometimes stalls.

So yeah, the road was flooded and I didn't see it, and drove my mom's Nissan into it. I got the car running by drying the MAF with a hair dryer, but now it has a loopy throttle, and will sometimes die. I cleaned out the intake and such, changed the oil, etc. I'm thinking that the MAF is still on the fritz though because it goes away if I unplug it. Any ideas though?

Dude you need to pull the plugs and crank it over to make sure you get all the water out and then change the oil and keep changing it a few times. Use cheap oil a few times.

My buddy from WV stopped up here several years back and we took his subaru outback around some trails and went thru a big puddle with it. Water went over the hood and got sucked in. We changed the oil and air filter and he drove it home. It showed no problems at all until one day he was just cruising down the highway and 'boom'. Turned out there was still a ton of water 'hidden' in the crankcase.

im sure thats more because of the Boxer engine, I let the oil drain for 30 mins and did all that.
