  • 2011 Mustang V6 - 48.5 MPG

OK, so it was a test run on a closed track. But you have to admit, pretty darn impressive considering it's a V6 rated at 305hp and it will run a 14.0 @ 99. Makes the factory claims of 30mpg highway look very attainable! Check out the link:

From the link you can get to a Car & Driver video that has a Camaro vs Mustang comparison. They listed the 412hp 5.0L GT as running 13.2 and the 305hp 3.7L V6 as a 14.0. By comparison, the 425hp Camaro SS was listed as 13.0 and the 300hp V6 Camaro as like a 14.2. The V6 Camaro is rated at close to 30MPG highway. It's amazing what technology has done.
And don't forget, these HP figures are SAE NET. Not "super tuned" and tweaked with no accessories like they rated the muscle cars in the '60s!
Plus, the V6 Mustangs pull .94G on the skidpad!

Can't wait to see what all these cars will do once the aftermarket gets a hold of them. I'm sure we'll see low 13 sec. V6 Mustangs & Camaros with simple bolt-ons. The V8 models should be mid to high 12's with minimal effort.

"....at an average speed of 43.9 miles per hour." Proves nothing except that it's about RPM and wind drag. Any car can get awesome mileage at 44 MPH. My stock 5-speed '90 Festy once got 62.5 MPG at a constant 45 MPH, and not on a closed track; there were hills. Unfortunately it is not safe/practical to drive at that speed on the Interstate.

The 5.0 has gone 12.3s on slicks and 12.5 on street tires and the V6 has run as fast as 13.5 on street tires.

The v6 mustang would probably run harder than a 69 428 SCJ car. Wouldn't sound as good though.
